We place full priority on compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, agreements and contracts in all countries that we operate. Moreover, wherever we deem it the right thing to do, we will go beyond compliance and strive for an even higher level of ethical, legal and business practice. We operate a zero tolerance to modern slavery and human trafficking as well as bribery and corruption. This policy extends to all the Group’s business dealings and transactions in all countries in which it or its subsidiaries or associates operate.
Futamura is fully committed to ensuring there is transparency in the business and in the approach to tackling modern slavery throughout our supply chains, consistent with the disclosure obligations under the Modern Slavery Act 2015. The Company expects the same high standards from all contractors, suppliers and other business partners, and as part of the contracting processes, the Company includes specific prohibitions against the use of forced, compulsory or trafficked labour, or anyone held in slavery or servitude, whether adults or children, and it is expected that our suppliers will hold their own suppliers to the same high standards.
The relationship with the vast majority of our suppliers has been established over a number of years.
A high proportion of our materials originate from EU or USA sources which we consider to be low risk in regard to Modern Slavery. Incorporated into our supplier approval process for new and existing suppliers is a review of regulatory compliance and ethical controls undertaken. Any sources which are or have the potential to be higher risk can be subject to audit and enhanced background checks including supplier reputation and sanctions. The level of management control required for these sources will be continually monitored.
Our Procurement department members have previously undertaken training with regard to Ethical Trading, Bribery and Corruption, Slavery and Human Trafficking.
Futamura subscribes to and are audited by the Supplier Ethical Date Exchange (SEDEX), a global membership organisation dedicated to driving improvements in ethical and responsible business practices in global supply chains. We also ensure that the relevant training is provided so that our policies and business practices are up to date.
Employees with any concerns in regards to non-compliance with the Modern Day Slavery Act as well as any other policies and procedures, we engage them to follow our Whistleblowing Policy with contact details to Public Concern at Work (an independent whistleblowing charity).
This statement will be reviewed annually.
