Design / Development Engineer – Level 1

Reports to: Mechanical Engineering Manager

Job Purpose:

To provide mechanical engineering design and advanced technical knowledge to allow the engineering department to deliver new plant and develop existing manufacturing operations to achieve business objectives.

Principle Accountabilities (tasks & responsibilities)

  • Assist the Mechanical Engineering Manager with their duties.
  • Project management – carry out all related individual design aspects/tasks to fully contribute to the delivery of assigned projects.
  • Ensure effective records (technical files) are compiled/maintained.
  • Comply with all company regulatory requirements.
  • Provide innovative solutions to manufacturing requirements to improve business efficiency and capacity - achieve business objectives.
  • Provide technical support to assist in the diagnosis and rectification of complex production and plant services breakdowns.
  • Installation of Hazardous Area equipment.
  • CAD based design packages.
  • Maintain familiarity and understanding of all new equipment and technologies across the site to provide out of hours support when required.
  • Management of Contractors – liaise and assist with external design/service engineers/contractors during project tasks – act as the “Site Contact”.

NTG Laboratory Apprentice

Reports to: Research scientist/Senior Research Scientist

Job Purpose:

NTG exist to use applied science, scientific practices and expertise and laboratory skills to build internal and external networks, able to research and develop capabilities that hekp to deliver the long term strategical goals of the business. The Laboratory apprentice is expected to work towards being a fully trained member of the team, able to conduct and report experimental investigations required to support research and development projects, analytical investigations, process performance and technical customer complaints in the business.

Principle Accountabilities (tasks & responsibilities)

  • Work to learn the skills required to conduct, routine and non-routine film/raw material testing to support specific product, process raw material enhancement, or technology based research programmes.
  • Maintain written records of all tests to enable any data generated to be traceable and to be acceptable for patent purposes.
  • Continue to enhance personal academic standards by attending further education as directed by line management.

  • Gain a basic understanding of the laboratory methods required to perform the duties of a laboratory technicial

  • Develop capability in sample preparation to facilitate reliable and representative analysis.

  • Ensure that appropriate work areas and laboratory are kept clean and tidy to maintain hygiene and safety standards
