Futamura was founded in Japan in 1947, with a vision rooted in quality, innovation, and environmental stewardship and quickly expanded its operations and expertise. Over the decades, Futamura diversified into new markets and technologies, including regenerated cellulose films—a pivotal moment that would shape the future of flexible packaging worldwide.
In 2016, Futamura acquired Innovia Films’ cellulose films business, including the world-renowned NatureFlex™ and Cellophane™ brands. This strategic acquisition cemented Futamura’s position as the global leader in renewable and compostable flexible packaging films.
